Morning is breaking here in St. Johns Chapel and the we have a low grey mist but clear skies and a few clouds higher up. It is first day of the Chapel show though the kiddie rides were not set up last night when we returned from dinner with Phillippa and Jeremy Rowe and John and Marie Land. Temperatures will likely be near 72 F today so it will be very busy on the roads of this last big holiday weekend known as Summer Bank Holiday.
Yesterday was final close down of the mine, now that Shenker has carried away for the Summer's production we can now look forward to coming back. Afternoon was spent washing the Ford and chatting about how best to do things next year and a final trip to the Blue Bell and trips around the dale to say goodbye to friends.
Today the three of us will drive to Harrogate to see the mineral show and then on to Bath for the night. We've a long day ahead of us and much to do this morning so this will be our final report for the season from Weardale.
Today's photo is of Byron posing with the summer's take, all wrapped up and ready to go.
Cheers, Cal & Kerith and Byron
