Ellen M Martin has provided communications professional services for more than 18 years to biopharmaceutical and other health care companies, as well as to agricultural and industrial biotechnology, bioinformatics and medical device firms.
Leveraging her marketing and financial training and experience, Ellen helps senior managers clarify corporate strategies and strengths to more effectively communicate their value propositions to target audiences. With her science background and continuing professional and personal interest in technical and scientific fields, she can concisely communicate complex ideas to a variety of publics. Her intensive experience in individual investor relations has earned her a strong reputation among Internet investors.
Before joining Kureczka/Martin Associates in October 2000, she led corporate communications for 5 years at XOMA, a trailblazing antibody and biopharmaceuticals developer, where she was a pioneer in using the Internet for strategic investor relations. Previously, she was director of communications for DNA Plant Technology, one of the first publicly traded agbiotech companies. She served as communications director for the Bay Area Bioscience Center, forerunner to BayBio, and consulted for bio and high-tech clients, including as an associate with J. Kureczka Associates.
Ellen’s earlier 10-year career in banking gave her a depth of understanding of financial concepts, markets and transactions that has been uniquely valuable in supporting life science clients with investor and financial media relations activities.
Ellen holds an MBA in marketing and finance from Northwestern University’s Graduate School of Management (now Kellogg. She has a BS in physical anthropology from the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana), where she also studied and taught genetics, osteology and paleopathology.
Ellen is an active member of the National Investor Relations Institute.
